General information
The Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences (Academia Scientiarum Thoruniensis) of Nicolaus Copernicus University in the field of science and life sciences for the disciplines of astronomy, mathematics, biological sciences, chemical sciences, physical sciences, earth and environmental sciences and in the field of veterinary sciences in the discipline of veterinary science was established on May 28, 2019 by Order No. 67 of the NCU Rector.
Education
Education at the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences lasts 4 years and ends with the submission of a doctoral dissertation.
The main objectives of the education include preparation of the doctoral dissertation, acquiring competences enabling independent scientific research carried out on a national level as well as in international teams, gaining experience to integrate scientific activity with the economic and social environment, and acquiring competences to carry out activities related to university teaching
Doctoral training includes classes in the form of specialized lectures, workshops, seminars, courses and internships to improve grant-winning skills. It is carried out on the basis of the education program approved by the resolution of the NCU Senate and an individual research plan.
The Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences prepares for the PhD degree in the disciplines of astronomy, mathematics, biological sciences, chemical sciences, physical sciences, earth and environmental sciences, veterinary science.
Supervisors
The doctoral student works under the direction of a supervisor or assistant supervisor. The declaration of the choice of the preferred supervisor should be made at the time of submitting recruitment documents. The Supervisor is appointed by the director of the AST school.
